Syktyvkar State University
Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University takes the lead among other universities in the Komi Republic. Throughout the University’s history, the University became the main and the largest higher educational establishment in the North-West Russia.
Currently, more than 9,000 students are trained here. All the training is provided by highly qualified academic staff, comprising more than 400 teachers. 78% of staff professors have a Doctoral or Candidate’s Degree.
The study languages are English and Russian.

Medical Institute implement such principles as up-to-date trainings for future doctors who can hold posts not only in Russia but throughout the world. Training is carried out both in the academic buildings of Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University, on the basis of Morozov Syktyvkar Medical College, the medical centre of the University, as well as in the departments of republican and city hospitals and polyclinics, the perinatal center, tuberculosis, oncological and cardiological dispensaries, the Center for Disaster Medicine.
The Institute has an advanced material and technological basis that includes multimedia technology, large auditoriums, sophisticated laboratories, computer labs, as well as an anatomy museum. Students can improve their expertise on simulation equipment, give injections, do artificial respiration, and massage the heart, along with other things, at the Manipulating Skills Center.
Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University has lot of partnerships in various countries such as India, Nepal, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Eswatini, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan study at the Medical Institute.
All international students will be provided with training in English during first three years and in the meantime, they will study Russian language in order to both continuer their study at the fourth year and communicate with the patients.
Accommodation
The hostel system of Pitirim Sorokin Syktyvkar State University is excellent, with fully equipped rooms, a quiet study atmosphere, and a recreation facility nearby. There are 8 hostels on the campus for almost 1,200 rooms, Usually, up to 3 students can share a room. All of the hostel rooms are fully equipped, also the size and amount of conveniences vary. There is a common hall and a common kitchen on each floor. A medical cabinet for first aid is located on the ground floor.
Guard security service is responsible for students’ safety at the University’s grounds, as well as the main student routes from the hostels to the campuses.
Meals and groceries can be purchased from a variety of shops and supermarkets in the area. On the campuses’ territory, there are also different canteens and cafés for students.
