Lipetsk State Technical University (LSTU) is one of the leading educational institutions of the Central Black-Earth region of the Russian
Federation.
Established in 1956 as the Evening faculty of Tula Mechanical Institute, the first and only technical university in the region began its history with training specialists majoring in:

In 1959 the Evening faculty was reorganized into the Lipetsk evening faculty of Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, and in 1966 it was reorganized into the Lipetsk branch of the Institute. In 1973, the branch became Lipetsk Polytechnic Institute, comprising four faculties that trained engineers majoring in 14 fields.
In 1994 the institute obtained the status of a technical university.
Currently LSTU is a diversified university training specialist for the metallurgical, machine building, chemical and other industries, as well as for academic, university and industrial science.
Today LSTU is the only state technical university in the Lipetsk region, entirely complying with modern educational standards. It comprises 8 faculties and 2 institutes.
There are 44 departments in the university. More than 7000, students study here. The educational process at the University is conducted in accordance with the State Educational Standard of Higher Professional Education, adopted in the Russian Federation. Student Accommodation
Students are offered to live in well heated and fully furnished comfortable rooms. Accommodation facilities for students are organized on the sharing basis. There are twin – and triple – rooms. Male and female students live separately on the different floors. All the hostels for students are protected by the police. There are special rooms for students where they can socialize, have fun and make new friends. All the rooms are provided with a bed, mattress, pillow, blanket, desk, chair, heater, and lighting, suitable for both: study and relaxation, as well as the Internet access and telephone for students to get in touch with their close friends and relatives.

Lipetsk is a city in Russia, the capital of the Lipetsk region, standing on both banks of the Voronezh River, about 445 km south-east of Moscow.

The climate is continental. The average temperature in January is minus 8 degrees Celsius, in July – plus 20 degrees Celsius.

Main industries of Lipetsk are machinery, metallurgy, metalworking, chemical, clothing, food and others. The largest enterprise of the region is Novolipetsk Steel Plant (NLMK). About 50,000 people are working there. Novolipetsk Steel is the main source of air pollution in the city.
Lipetsk is also known as a balneological and mud bath resort (the first resort was opened in 1805).
