Karachay-Cherkessia State Technological Academy

Currently, the Karachay-Cherkessia State Technological Academy operates 6 institutes (agricultural, medical, legal, economics and management, applied mathematics and information technology, engineering) and the Faculty of Design and Arts, as well as the secondary vocational college, which has 5,262 students (according to 1.10.2018). The academy provides all the conditions necessary for the educational activities of the university: there is a library and publishing center, an institute of professional development and additional general and vocational education, a center of student creativity, etc.

The quality of training of specialists at the university is ensured, first of all, by the level of training of faculty. The academy employs 915 staff, including: 314 people belonging to the faculty, 83 people – training and support staff and 210 – service personnel, 77 people – administrative and administrative staff, 37 administrative and economic employees, 77 people – training and production personnel, etc.

There are 43 doctors of science and professors in the faculty of the Academy; 194 PhD. Academy employees have honorary titles and awards of the Russian Federation and the Czech Republic: Distinguished Worker of the Higher School of the Russian Federation – 2 people; Distinguished worker of the high school of the Czech Republic – 1 person; Distinguished Cultural Worker – 1 person; 42 people have the title of “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education”; “Honorary worker of secondary vocational education” – 11 people; “People’s Artist of the Czech Republic” – 1 person; The title “Honored Worker of Science of the Czech Republic” – 11 people, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation -1 people, “Honored Coach of the Russian Federation” – 2 people, Honorary certificates of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation awarded 12 people.

All educational units of the academy (institutions, departments) are headed by teachers with academic degrees and titles. Educational activities in the academy are carried out in the squares, enshrined in the right of operational management of the orders of the Territorial Office of the Federal Agency for the Management of Federal Property in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and the city of Sochi.

In recent years, a lot of attention has been paid to the design of the appearance of the university, its interior and technical equipment of laboratories, centers, classrooms. A lot of work is being done to ensure the safety of students and employees, and energy-saving technologies are being put into operation.

Medical care for students and teachers is provided by the Center for the Promotion of Health of Students and Pupils of the SCA.

The academy operates a network of canteens: “Youth” (Stavropolskaya Street, 36), “Academy of Taste” (Cosmonauts Street, 100), the dining room of the college (Stavropolskaya, 41) the total number – 540 seats).

There are modern sports infrastructure facilities: a swimming pool, a sports complex, which houses a library, an assembly hall for 360 seats, three sports halls (Cosmonauts Street, 100) and the sports and health complex “Kupol” (Stavropolskaya, 36).

The residential complex of the academy includes 2 dormitories, the total number of beds – 840. The provision of students places in dormitories is 100%. The living conditions of the students are satisfactory.

The academy has four training bases: Narat (Selenchuk district, Arkhyz), “UNOC” (the Red Mound of Malokarachayev district), “Kholodok” (the post.AnchorY Yel Lazarevsky district of Sochi), the educational and experimental farm of the agricultural institute of the SCGA (pos. Beautiful Prikuban district).

Student Accommodation

While getting education, all the students are provided with comfortable rooms for living in hostels for students. All the rooms are provided with the Internet access, TV set and telephone. There are bathrooms, lavatories and kitchens for students in the hostels. The campus area is equipped with a gym, a large number of shops and entertainment centers.

Usually, students use accommodation facilities on the sharing basis. All students’ hostels are safe and secure as they are under the protection of the police during 24 hours.

Educational process does not only consist of exams and tests. Students’ life is a unique world, full of hopes and joy, exciting events and fascinating new acquaintances. The university is a so-called city within the city, which has everything one might need.

Cherkessk City

Cherkessk is a city located in the south of the European part of Russia, the capital of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic. It is the main industrial, economic, and cultural center of the republic.

Cherkessk – Features

Cherkessk is located in the northern foothill part of the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia, on the right bank of the Kuban River. The average altitude is about 530 meters above sea level. The main waterway of Cherkessk is the Kuban River.

The climate is temperate continental. Winters are mild and long. Summers are moderately warm and short. The average air temperature ranges from plus 21 degrees Celsius in July to minus 2.5 degrees Celsius in January.

City transport is represented by trolleybuses, buses, and minibuses. Cherkessk is connected by railway with Nevinnomyssk, by roads with Krasnodar, Nevinnomyssk, and Pyatigorsk.

Cherkessk occupies a leading position in the economic potential of Karachay-Cherkessia. It produces about 50% of the industrial products of the republic, more than half of all residential buildings are constructed here, and more than three quarters of the total turnover of the consumer market are formed.

Cherkessk is the only capital among the North Caucasian republics of Russia, where the number of Russians is greater than the representatives of indigenous peoples. This is mainly due to its recent history. In the Soviet years, this new city became an industrial and scientific center, which attracted people from all over Russia. In the 1990s, local people relatively calmly coped with the collapse of the USSR, without fierce interethnic conflicts.

In total, representatives of more than 80 nationalities live in the city. According to the 2010 All-Russian population census, the most numerous peoples living in Cherkessk were Russians (54%), Karachais (16.2%), Cherkess (13%), Abazins (8.1%), Nogais (1.4%), Armenians (1.3%).

This city is the center of a unique multinational culture. Four state theaters are open here: the Republican Russian Drama and Comedy Theater, the Karachay Drama Theater, the Cherkess Drama Theater, the Abazin Drama Theater, as well as the State Philharmonic of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic.
