Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V.P. Astafeva
At present, Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University named after V.P. Astafyev is one of the leading pedagogical universities of Siberia and the Far East. He was one of the first pedagogical universities in Russia in 1993 to receive the high status of a university. In 2004, the university was named after the outstanding Russian writer V.P. Astafyev, the honorary professor of the KGPU and his great moral patron.
The Krasnoyarsk State Pedagogical University differs markedly from other (mainly technical) universities in Krasnoyarsk not only by its history, but also by its wide variety of forms and methods of teaching, training and educating students, aimed at mastering the wide range of cultural values and socio-personal competencies necessary for their future success in modern schools. The results of this topical social and humanitarian focus of the university’s work have been highly appreciated recently by the Independent Public Council of the competition «100 Best Universities of Russia». The university was awarded for the third time in recent years the Diploma of the winner of the 2011 competition in the nomination «Best Socially Oriented University».
At present, the Astafieva PP. CGPU holds an indefinite licence to conduct educational activities in 30 areas of higher education (baccalaureate, master’s degree), 33 programs for the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel in postgraduate studies, 8 middle-level training programs, as well as 27 retraining programs (with diplomas), 46 advanced training programs. The structure of the educational organization comprises 5 faculties (Faculty of History, Faculty of Biology, Geography and Chemistry, Faculty of Foreign Languages, Faculty of Elementary Classes, Faculty of Philology) and 5 institutes (Institute of Supplementary Education and Further Training, Institute of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Institute of Physical Culture, Sports and Health of I.S. Yarygin, Institute of Social and Humanitarian Technologies, Institute of Psychological and Pedagogical Education), as well as 51 departments. The range of educational services is constantly expanding, which will make it possible to remain a competitive organization of higher education in the region.

Student Accommodation
Rooms are fully furnished and consist of an apartment like system with a two bed with an attached toilet. On each floor, there is a common hall and a common kitchen for cooking. On the ground floor, there is a gym cum recreation center including a table tennis table. Hostel rooms come furnished with beds, mattress, pillows, blanket, two side tables, one cupboard per room and one table and chair per room. Occupants get a weekly change of bed-sheet and pillowcase. Hot water is available in designated hours. All rooms are centrally heated. A plumber, carpenter, and electrician are available on call.

Krasnoyarsk City
Krasnoyarsk is a city in Russia, the largest cultural, economic, industrial, and educational center of Central and Eastern Siberia, the capital of Krasnoyarsk krai (the second largest region in Russia). It is the largest of the ancient cities of Siberia.

Krasnoyarsk is the place of the 29th World Winter Universiade-2019.
There are dozens of hotels of different levels of service. “Hilton Garden Inn Krasnoyarsk” and “Novotel Krasnoyarsk Center” have the official status of four-star hotels. “Ibis Krasnoyarsk Center”, “Krasnoyarsk”, “Amaks City Hotel” and “Oktyabrskaya” have the status of three-star hotels.
Krasnoyarsk is the easternmost Russian city with population of over one million people. It is a pretty compact city. From west to east the city length is about 41 km, from north to south – about 37 km. Krasnoyarsk is divided into two parts by the Yenisei River; its left-bank part is located in Western Siberia, the right bank part – in Eastern Siberia.
The climate is sharply continental. The average temperature in January is minus 15.5 degrees Celsius, in July – plus 19.1 degrees Celsius.
Krasnoyarsk is a large scientific, educational and sports center of Russia. The Siberian Federal University has more than forty thousand students. In general, more than 150 thousand students live and study here.
Krasnoyarsk stands on both banks of the Yenisei River, in a hollow formed by the northern spurs of Eastern Sayan. It is the place, where West Siberian Plain, Middle Siberian Plateau, and Altay-Sayany Mountains come together.
This city is a developed industrial center. The main industries are aerospace industry, ferrous metallurgy, machine building, wood processing, transportation, chemical, food, retail and wholesale services.
Krasnoyarsk is a large transport hub standing at the crossroads of the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Yenisei River waterways. The federal highway R255 “Siberia” (Novosibirsk – Krasnoyarsk – Irkutsk) crosses the city, as well as the federal highway R257 “Yenisei” (Krasnoyarsk – Abakan – Kyzyl – the state border with Mongolia). Passenger ships go to Igarka, Dudinka, Divnogorsk.
Krasnoyarsk has two airports: Yemelyanovo International Airport, the largest airport in Eastern Siberia, and Cheremshanka Airport. Direct flights to Athens, Hannover, Salzburg, Lisbon, Beijing, Podgoritsa, Salonika and other destinations are available.
Buses are used as the main form of transport. Also, you can find tram lines in the right-side part of the city, and trolley-bus lines – in the left-side part. In summer time, “river trams” run between the two banks of the Yenisei River. Since 1995, Krasnoyarsk underground is being constructed. Underground lines are deep: 60 m and even deeper. There are five bridges across the Yenisei River.
