Glazov State Pedagogical Institute named after V.G. Korolenko

Glazov State Pedagogical Institute named after V.G. Korolenko, a public school of education, is located in the city of Glazov of the Udmurt Republic. Founded in 1939, the full name is the Federal State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Education «Glazovsky State Pedagogical Institute named after V. G. Korolenko», the abbreviation «GGPI» is also used. It is one of the oldest universities in Udmurtia

The academic process at the university is managed by about 300 specialists, among them 38 doctors of sciences and professors, 125 candidates of sciences.

The material base of the Institute includes 3 study buildings, 4 comfortable dormitories, a complex of student meals, 2 gymnasiums, 5 gymnasiums, a sanatorium-preventative center, a library (including 2 subscriptions and 2 reading halls). In December 2009, the Museum of the History of the Institute and Pedagogical Education in the city of Glazov was opened in Glazov State Pedagogical Institute named after V.G. Korolenko. Student Accommodation

Dorms consist of eight rooms per floor, with 2-3 people per room. Each floor also has one kitchen and two toilets, and the basement has a shower. Students cannot select their own rooms. We encourage students to apply early, as the number of rooms are limited. Some students may not be comfortable with dorm rules, as they are often considered strict.

Glazov City

Glazov is a town in the Udmurt Republic, Russia, located along the Trans-Siberian Railway, on the Cheptsa River. Population: 95,854 (2010 Census); 100,894 (2002 Census); 104,072 (1989 Census).

It was first mentioned in the 17th century chronicles as a village; town status was granted to it in 1780. During the Russian Civil War, the town was of considerable military importance. It was taken by Kolchak’s general Anatoly Pepelyayev on June 2, 1919.

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Glazov serves as the administrative center of Glazovsky District, even though it is not a part of it. As an administrative division, it is incorporated separately as the town of republic significance of Glazov—an administrative unit with the status equal to that of the districts. As a municipal division, the town of republic significance of Glazov is incorporated as Glazov Urban Okrug.

There are five establishments of higher education in the town, notably Glazov State Pedagogical Institute named after Vladimir Korolenko and the Glazov branch of Izhevsk State Technical University.
