The city children hospital “In memory of saint coronation of their Imperial Majesties” was founded on 25th of May in 1905.

Saint-Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University was founded in 1925 as Academic and Research Institute of Maternal health and babyhood protection on the hospital basement on 7th of January in 1925.

For many decades, the University is an international center of higher medical education. Over the past half-century, it graduated several thousand of foreign students from 70 countries from 4 continents. Currently, University is opened for students from over 50 countries. In University may be taken person of either sex, nation and race, regardless of political or religious beliefs of any state that has diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation.

Saint-Petersburg state pediatric medical university provides high educational level, which guarantees high demand in the labor market. Our students and lecturers are laureates and prizewinners of rather international and Russian contests. Every year our students takes part in contests of scientific works for St. Petersburg Government grants and have a success.

Traditionally scientific researches are the one of the important parts of work in our university and include the main areas of medicine. According to Russian Science Index we are in the TOP-3 of the all medical organizations in Russian Federation, and in TOP-25 of the all scientific organizations in our country.

Saint-Petersburg state pediatric medical university related agreements of cooperation and partnership with foreign medical organizations: The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (Houston, USA), Democritus University of Thrace (Alexandroupolis, Greece), Belarus State medical university (Minsk, Belarus), Mhitara Geraci’s Erevan State medical university (Erevan, Armenia). It allows our students to take a part in international exchange programs. This work allows to improve educational level.

Students have a practice in our hospital (one of the biggest in Russia) from first days in university. They learn from practitioners, who work in our clinic.

Our hospital is a federal medical organization with the one of the biggest scientific bases and ancient traditions of Leningrad’s pediatric school. We have a modern diagnostic technology: multiline computer tomography, MRI, US-scanners, installation for radiologists, modern radioisotope laboratory and etc. Clinical and biochemical, bacteriological and virologic laboratories allow to perform the entire spectrum of researches at the advanced level. Our specialists work at the frontiers of modern science and implement new technologies into the practice.

Student Accommodation

 Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University owns a number of hostels for the use of its students who wish to live on or near the grounds and facilities of the university. The capacity of the six combined hostels amounts to around 3,050, with Hostel No. 6 being the largest and catering for the greatest number of students. 

Saint Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University provides housing for foreigners. The hostel is located in the city center, in an area with good infrastructure.

• The quality and size of the rooms differ. In rooms live from 2 to 4 people.
• The bathroom is shared and is divided into several rooms.
• The hostel will provide you with rooms fully furnished with all necessary furniture.
• Also in the hostel there are common kitchens, gyms, laundries and security.
• As for the purchase of food and other things, not far from the hostel there are several supermarkets as well as shopping centers.
• Also, nearby are the bus stop. The entrance to the hostel is based on student passes.
• A pass will be issued to the student upon arrival at the hostel.
• Visitors can stay at the hostel from 8:00 to 23:00.
