Volga State Engineering-Pedagogical University

Volga State University of Engineering and Education is one of the leading higher education institutions in Russia in the field of engineering and education and the only specialized university of this profile located in the European part of the Russian Federation. The Volga State University of Engineering and Education celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2007. He went from a branch of the All-Union Institute of Professional and Technical Education To a leading training and research center on engineering and education for training of the system of primary, secondary and higher vocational education. During its forty-year history, the university has become a leader in the system of engineering and educational education and has consistently occupied the 5-6th place of the rating of pedagogical universities in Russia since 2002.


Currently, Volga State University of Engineering and Education is one of the few educational institutions in Russia that implements the concept of continuous vocational education (school – lyceum – college – university – IDPO – postgraduate studies – doctorate), is an educational, scientific and cultural complex. The university operates in the field of higher, secondary and postgraduate vocational education in accordance with the license and certificate of state accreditation.


Students in the course of learning receive fundamental knowledge in the natural, technical, social and legal sciences in combination with deep psychological, educational, engineering and industrial training.


The training of students and graduate students in specialties is conducted by highly qualified teachers, about 90% of whom have doctoral or PhD degrees, the academic title of professor, assistant professor.


Graduates in higher vocational education programs are trained in 16 specialties based on six institutes: automotive, design institute, vocational and educational, socio-economic, institute before university training and the institute of professional development.

Student Accommodation

Heads of dormitories and the Student Board (student autonomous body) carry out character building in dormitories according to the complex plan, which includes the creation of necessary conditions for living, self-education, life and recreation, well-being, and allows to host mass cultural events and recreative sports, recreation evenings, literary soirees, dispute, mindset trainings, meetings with interesting people, etc.

Some of traditional events are: competition “The best room in the dormitory”, “Neighbors initiation ceremony”, different sports events. There is a psychologists office to help students and their families. There are annually conducted a course of lectures on such issues as tobacco smoking, drug addiction, AIDS preventive measures, youth sex education.


Nizhny Novgorod City

Nizhny Novgorod (or simply Nizhny in everyday speech) is a large city in Russia, the capital of Nizhegorodskaya oblast and the Volga Federal District. Strigino International Airport (IATA: GOJ, ICAO: UWGG) is located in the western part of Avtozavodsky district, 18 km south-west of the center of Nizhny Novgorod. Flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Kirov, Penza, Perm, Samara, Saratov, Sochi, Surgut, Ulyanovsk as well as Dubai, Yerevan, Nha Trang, Prague, Tashkent are available.

Parks and forests cover one-fifth of the city. “Switzerland”, the biggest park, occupies 380 hectares. In total there are more than 15 parks in Nizhny Novgorod.
