Nizhny Novgorod State Agricultural Academy

Today NSAA is the largest agricultural higher education institution in the Volga Federal District. The Academy currently employs a highly qualified teaching staff: the total number of teachers is 357, including associate professors, 183 candidates of science, professors, doctors of science – 63 persons, 4 honored scientists of the Russian Federation, 2 Honored Workers of Higher Education of the Russian Federation, 49 Honorary Workers of Higher Vocational Education of the Russian Federation and 9 Honored Specialists of Russia. Many of them are the organizers and managers of science schools, directly ensuring the introduction of scientific development into production.

 

Professor I. P. Yeleseev’s scientific works have been given deserved recognition in the field of introduction and selection of fruit-berry crops. Scientific works of professors such as L.P. In the 100 years of its existence, the Academy has trained more than 50,000 agricultural graduates.

 

Currently, there are 5,500 students in eight faculties, of whom 2,500 are full-time students and 3,000 are part-time students. Training in 12 bachelor’s degree courses (110800 «Agro-engineering», 110400 «Agronomy», 110100 «Agrochemicals and agronomists», 111900 «Veterinary and sanitary expertise», 111400 «Water bioresources and aquaculture», 120700 «Land use planning and cadastres», 111100 «Zootechnia», 250100 «Forestry business», 080200 «Management», 110900 «Production and Processing Technology from.-x. products», 100800 «Goods Processing» and 080100 «Economics») with 4-year normative period of training and one specialty (111801 «Veterinary») with 5-year normative period of training.

 

License 1582 issued by the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science on 28.07.2015.

 

Classes are conducted in Russian.Individual programs may be implemented in part or in full in foreign languages by decision of the NSAA Academic Council.

 

On graduation, graduates are awarded a State diploma.

 

The educational buildings and student dormitories are compact and located on the campus of the NSAA student campus.

 

Practical exercises are conducted in the educational economy of the Academy, branches of departments, racetrack, dairy factories and meat processing plants.Students are trained in leading factories in Russia and Europe.

 

There are student science circles in the departments. Students of the Academy take an active part in the Olympiads, conferences of the All-russian and international level, on the basis of the results of which they are awarded diplomas of the 1st and 2nd degrees.Students of the engineering faculty of NSAA in 2012 became winners of the All-russian Student Olympiad in the specialty «Mechanization of Agriculture».

 

Students participate in sports competitions where they win and win prizes, presenting their academy with dignity. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, the Academy was awarded the «Governor’s Cup» for 1 place in the inter-university multi-campus.

 

Students are offered the opportunity to pursue a second higher education. For several years, the best graduates of faculties have been undergoing refresher training under the oblast programme «Preparation of the reserve of managerial personnel for the organizations of the Nizhny Novgorod oblast» with the acquisition of the diploma of the state model.

 

Persons interested in scientific activities may continue their studies at the postgraduate level in 21 scientific specialties.

Student Accommodation

The dormitory has a perfect location: grocery stores, cafés, and restaurants with Russian and international cuisine are within walking distance. All city attractions, museums, theaters, historic places are either within walking distance or easy transportation from the dormitory.

The dormitory also is conveniently located in terms of going to and from the airport, either by taxi or via metro.

The dormitory is a corridor-type residential building with shared facilities. One rooms usually accommodates three or four roommates. Entrances to the building are equipped with video surveillance and security posts.

Nizhniy Novgorod City

Nizhny Novgorod (or simply Nizhny in everyday speech) is a large city in Russia, the capital of Nizhegorodskaya oblast and the Volga Federal District. It is an important economic, transport, and cultural center. From 1932 to 1990, the city was called Gorky in honor of the famous writer Maxim Gorky.

Nizhny Novgorod features

Nizhny Novgorod is located 417 km east of Moscow, in the center of the East European Plain, at the confluence of two major waterways of the European part of Russia – the Oka and Volga rivers. This location made the city an important shipping center of the country. The Oka divides the city into two parts.

Nizhny Novgorod is the fifth most populous city in Russia. The city is one of the largest Russian centers of river tourism. The historical part of the city rich in tourist attractions and is an important tourist center. UNESCO included Nizhny Novgorod in the list of Top 100 cities in the world which are of great historical and cultural value.

The climate is temperate continental with long cold winters and warm, relatively short summers. The average temperature in January is minus 8.9 degrees Celsius, in July – plus 19.4 degrees Celsius.

Strigino International Airport (IATA: GOJ, ICAO: UWGG) is located in the western part of Avtozavodsky district, 18 km south-west of the center of Nizhny Novgorod. Flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Izhevsk, Kirov, Penza, Perm, Samara, Saratov, Sochi, Surgut, Ulyanovsk as well as Dubai, Yerevan, Nha Trang, Prague, Tashkent are available.

Parks and forests cover one-fifth of the city. “Switzerland”, the biggest park, occupies 380 hectares. In total there are more than 15 parks in Nizhny Novgorod.
