Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology is a State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education in Saint Petersburg. Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology is the largest educational and scientific center in the North-West region of Russia. Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology was established in 1931 as a Leningrad Institute of Mechanics and Technology of refrigeration plant. In 1941 Leningrad Institute of Mechanics and Technology of refrigeration plant and Leningrad Institute of Food Technology merged together to form Leningrad Institute of Refrigeration and Food Technology. As the name of Leningrad city changed into Saint Petresburg, the Leningrad Institute of Refrigeration and Food Technology became Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology. Today Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology has 6 faculties, 33 departments and staff of 520 highly qualified teachers. Every year Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology enrolls 2700 students. Till now Saint Petersburg State University of Refrigeration and Food Technology has trained 24000 professionals for food industries.
