Tomsk State University “Chemical Faculty”

TSU is one of the first Russian higher education institutions that chose the path of innovative history. Since opening its first innovation center for Siberian higher education institutions in 1993 and participation in the establishment of the very first Technology Park, the university has continued its development in this direction. In 2010, TSU deservedly won “national research” status. Significant victories in Russian government competitions for the right to receive state funding for the development of innovation infrastructure, the implementation of three integrated projects to build high-technology production and to attract leading scientists to the university have only confirmed the high status of TSU as an innovation-active university. The best laboratories, equipped with the most modern equipment, world-renowned scientists who conduct research at the University and in cooperation with university teams, a belt of 30 small innovative enterprises. The launch of the first Russian import-substituting enterprise for the production of glyoxal was based on TSU scientists’ research in 2009.

 

TSU’s opportunities in scientific and educational spheres attract partners from all over the globe. The University is firmly integrated into the global educational environment through the implementation of joint training and research programs with leading universities and research centers in the world, because of the implementation of projects in the most prestigious grants from the largest funds and participation in TEMPUS TACIS international programs (17 projects), etc.

 

Tomsk State University is based on a solid foundation of mutual penetration of the scientific and educational process, created during the years of its operation. Student Accommodation

Upon your arrival at TSU, you will be housed in a room in the new TSU Students’ Residence Hall.

After admittance, with only limited paper work, the TSU Students’ Residence Hall staff will provide you with bed and all necessary bedding (mattress, pillow, blanket, bedspread and bed clothes). The Residence Hall is equipped with furniture and bathroom units. Shared kitchens are equipped with ovens. The Residence hall is up-to-date, built for students and their needs: studying rooms, internet, laundry, gym, cafeteria, place for dance and aerobics. There is security, with advanced CCTV and fire protection.

Tomsk City

Tomsk is a city in Russia located in the east of Western Siberia, the capital of the Tomsk region. It is a major educational, scientific and innovation center of Siberia.

Tomsk features

The horse, depicted on the emblem of Tomsk, reminds about carrier’s trade that served as a source of income for a large part of the population, and that once Moscow-Siberian road passed through the town.

Tomsk is located on the right bank of the Tom River, about 50 km from the Ob River. The city stands on the border of the taiga: there are thick forests and marshlands to the north, and forests and steppes to the south. The distance to Moscow by road is 3,604 km.

The climate is continental-cyclonic (transitional from the European temperate continental to the Siberian sharply continental). The average temperature in January is minus 17.1 degrees Celsius, in July – plus 18.7 degrees Celsius.

The city is an important scientific center. There are a lot of businesses that are closely related to science; IT industry is also well developed.

Bogashevo Airport is the main international airport of Tomsk; regular flights to Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg, Sochi, Surgut, Barnaul, Nizhnevartovsk are available.

K-150 “Tomsk”, a Russian nuclear submarine, was named in honor of the city. You can find Tomskaya Street in a number of cities in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan.
